Seamax Aircraft Price - Arguably the most interesting sector in light-sport aircraft is the LSA seaplane. One company, Icon Aircraft, and its beautiful A5 have attracted a lot of attention. Nothing wrong with that, in fact the company's superior marketing has been a boon to the entire LSA industry.
However, despite all the media coverage, this California manufacturer was one of the latecomers to the LSA hydroplane party. Several came and one returned from work.

The SeaMax LSA seaplane, designed and manufactured in Brazil, has not been available in recent years. We'll skip the details, but the AirMax company has gone to great lengths to repel unwanted owners. In recent months this has been resolved and AirMaxis is now ready to move forward.
Seamax M 22
The SeaMax was the first LSA to meet compliance standards as required by the FAA before being sold to the public. The first was Mermaid in February 2006. Colyaer Freedom followed in January 2007. On Christmas Day 2007, SeaMax was third.
At SUN 'n FUN2017 I had a conversation and video interview with SeaMax designer Miguel Rosario about his 22nd design project.
Since I enjoyed flying the SeaMax, let me give you the experience of flying this Brazilian LSA aircraft.
Although the plane looks small when you get up close, the interior of the SeaMax is incredibly spacious, and its interior is about the same length as a speedboat with a diameter of 46 inches, almost as wide as an LSA, and half a foot wider than a Cessna. 172.

Entry is easy with its canopy that folds forward and out of the way. You stand on the hard floor and sit down. it's easy The optics of the SeaMax were excellent and you have 270° visibility thanks to the rear windows.
Because you want the canopy to be sealed in the water - the plane is sitting on the ground - air holes are placed in the canopy in a second set above your head, located at the wing roots. They keep the air flowing inside.
When you're taxiing around the world, you can leave the canopy open. The hinges are so strong that even on bumpy roads the bed moves very slowly.
After leaving the ramp or beach, you retrieve the gear to prepare for launch. The SeaMax's electromechanical landing gear takes nine seconds to fully retract.

To help you stay fully prepared, SeaMax offers a digital flap position indicator and a digital trim position indicator. You also engage the electric fuel boost pump and the odd sump pump before moving the throttle forward. Both can be turned off once you are safely airborne.
My experience on the water has shown that the SeaMax is a great little boat. In this configuration, the tide uses a rudder that comes from the inside of the wind rudder. You can't see it when it's backwards. You use reverse aileron to prevent the sponge from getting too deep in the water.
At full power, some water can affect the propeller, so the SeaMax uses a reinforced prop on the leading edge.
As mentioned earlier, the SeaMax's cockpit side rails are only inches above the waterline. The bottom of the passenger seats is below the waterline. Until your method is tested, I believe it is a lake plane, although I have heard reports of one foot wave performance. I recommend a warning about beach activity. Such limitations are common in small amphibians.
Best Light Sport Aircraft Options
My sales pilot, Carlos Besa, who was instrumental in winning the SeaMax for the FAA as a special LSA, suggested that I use full stick power in feet before breaking water or land.
When the nose wheel goes up, you release the back pressure and allow the plane to take off. Rotation occurred at about 45 mph, indicated on the Dynon instrument.
According to company officials, the SeaMax hull comes in at about 100 feet. At constant acceleration, the flight follows about 300 feet when flying alone or about 500 feet when flying in pairs.
Climbing at 70 mph initially produced about 1000 fpm. The SeaMax continued to climb at about 700 fpm with 10° flaps.
A Special Light Sport Aircraft Seaplane For The Rest Of Us: Aventura Slsa 912
During full landing, the airplane approaches 50 mph. Safe wind speed is 75-80 mph; This produces about 500 fpm of throttle at idle.
Touching the bottom of the water seemed very straightforward. SeaMax responds very well as a boat. Touchdown was at 60 mph and started tracking very quickly.
My launch driver said it's important to keep the stick full to prevent damage and possible irritation. This is another common form of seaplane.
Airborne, the SeaMax joystick has a light touch, although I recommend a few hours of preparation. My first attempts at soft Dutch rolls were a little rough, which suggests that handling takes some getting used to. Pin control performed best, probably due to the closeness behind the spacious cabin combined with the pusher engine. You have to use the steering wheel, but its flicks, rather than hard pressure, worked better for me.

The SeaMax's simple and responsive controls will delight pilots who take time to get used to it. Scrolling speed was average to slow. It's not often you fly over water in a seaplane, but the SeaMax in the world has all the controls you need.
In order to improve the air flow of the main house, the designer Rosario did a long study on the vortex generator inserts that can be seen in different places.
Bessa advised me to use the 100hp Rotax 912 at 4800rpm for normal cruising. This yielded about 100 mph (87 knots). At 4, 600 rpm we clocked less than 100 mph, but those are the low-power settings that save fuel.
It pushed the Rotax harder and the SeaMax reached 115 mph (100 knots), putting it in the fastest range of any other LSA seaplane.
What Is The Best Amphibious Aircraft?
To make sure you have the most up-to-date information, we recommend that you obtain the official information from the factory.
Stalls were soft in my test. From a couple of entries, the stalls were good at low speeds of 40 mph, though the factory says 36 mph with flaps. Longitudinal stability tests and power changes have shown the SeaMax to be a relatively stable aircraft. He recovered from a minor stick disorder and only a few wanders.
With 26 liters of fuel on board and a fuel-lean Rotax 912, you can stay away for more than five hours, which means around 500 miles of routine and some reserve. The vacation is comfortable enough then, but I think you'd have a hard time driving through the tens of thousands of lakes scattered across the United States.
With a payload capacity of 600 pounds and even a full tank of fuel on board, you can put more than 440 pounds into the SeaMax. Luggage space is limited, but a $100 burger will easily take you to the pier or the airport.
A5 Delivery Positions Available
In short, I would call the SeaMax a "working LSA seaplane", energetic and demanding of the pilot's attention, but it gets up and goes. When parked at an airport or dock, pilots or boaters will check out the SeaMax and most will be impressed.

According to SEAMAX officials, the company has been planning this move for the past three years, which requires extensive market research and engineering development. For this project, the company is paired with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where about 100 graduate and undergraduate students, taught by business professors, are preparing for a comprehensive business assessment.
Assembly operations bring factory-level support, maintenance, parts manufacturing and training capabilities to the US at a new location at Daytona Beach International Airport in Florida. The new assembly building is located in Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's research park, and the new driveway is designed to provide easy access to the facilities, company officials said.
Seaplane Adventures For Pilots
In collaboration with US assembly operations, SEAMAX has developed new features for the SeaMax M-22, including a glass cockpit and new safety features, while also offering the Rotax 912 iS engine as an option.
SEAMAX recently took its first powerful IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) flight to a veteran pilot and Boeing 767 captain on a major US airline.
The SEAMAX M-22 is a high performance light sport aircraft that has been on the market for over 20 years.
